Disenchanted: A Cabaret of Twisted Fairy Tales
If there’s just ONE show you need to see in the Denver Fringe Festival, it’s the award winning Disenchanted: A Cabaret of Twisted Fairy Tales (‘BEST IN FRINGE’ Newcastle Fringe Festival; ‘BEST ADULT SHOW’ International Young-Howze Theatre Awards). Disenchanted will blow your socks off with its “raunchy, operatic Into the Woods” vibe, its cast of hilarious/heartbreaking characters (all played by Eliane Morel, with Accompanist/Musical Director Daryl Wallis) and its audaciously subversive and topical take on old fairy tales.
Set in a 1699 Parisian Salon and hosted by vivacious Madame d’Aulnoy it features a cast of disgruntled fairy tale characters, keen to tell their side of the story, and answer these questions and more: Why was the Wolf in Grandma’s bed? How does a golden-egg-laying goose find liberation? Are the Ugly sisters’ feet really that big? And what does this all have to do with the French Revolution?
